Happy Valentine’s Day from our traditional love night eatery … the Harris Teeter salad bar!

A few years ago, we tried to go out to eat on Valentine’s Day without a reservation. My husband, God bless him, was surprised that every restaurant we tried had at least an hour and a half wait. It was Saturday night and Valentine’s … a double reservation necessity!
Finally, famished, we eventually arrived at a local grocery story and filled cardboard boxes with various salads and fruit. We also bought several kinds of artisan cheeses and breads then headed home to eat.
We’ve always been a kind of on-the-fly kind of couple–to friends’ and family members’ consternation. Kevin’s usual MO is “We’ll figure it out.”
And we usually do.
So last year, we reprised our grocery story Valentine’s dinner. Last Wednesday night, I decided to be proactive and asked him, “Can we go to Harris Teeter Saturday night?”
He thought and said, “For our usual Valentine’s?”
“Yep.”
So we visited our place on Saturday night, then came home to eat and watch the Olympics. Not fancy or exciting, but it’s our thing now and special to us.

I hope your Valentine’s was special, too!
