Sometimes the writer’s life borders on the lonely side–unless you count spending time with imaginary characters, that is. We plan and plot alone. We write alone. We proofread and edit alone.
But sometimes, writers spend quality time with other writers. This past weekend, I spent a wonderful weekend with other Christian writers at North Topsail Beach on Topsail Island in North Carolina. Some of us gathered for the third year in a row. Others joined us for the first time–reminding me of the lyrics to the Girl Scout song, Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, and the other is gold.
During the course of the weekend, we enjoyed teaching time, worshipping time, fellowshipping time, writing time, and free time.
Here are some pictures.
This picture shows our house, the one in the middle. I stood on the beach access bridge to capture the photo.
Our house up close. (Do you see my van? The one with all the Mom stickers?)

The air temperature was supposed to be in the upper 70’s, but the water temperature felt quite a bit cooler. My toes can attest to the chilliness.
Spending time with other writers, especially Christian writers, is always such an encouragement, and spending that time at a beach (with lots of chocolate)? All the better!
