My orchid is still blooming at our house. I never thought of myself as an orchid person. I never really wanted one because I thought they were too fussy…until someone gave me one. Unfortunately, that one died despite my trying to keep it alive. The one in the picture is one I bought in September of 2018 because three of my children were coming home for Labor Day Weekend, and I wanted to celebrate.
I kept it alive, and it rewarded me with another blooming in February, 2020. It’s mid May now, and one bloom is still hanging on. Three other plants are dormant now, but I’m looking forward to more blooms from those, too.
The orchid’s beauty is a calm reminder of God’s faithfulness. The world may be spinning with constant updates of Covid-19, but God is still on His throne. His love is constant. His peace is available for the asking.
As we move into Phase Two of reopening here in North Carolina, I’m reminded of Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” His Word, His faithfulness, His love, His peace…constant no matter the circumstances.
Praise God!
