Libraries are an important part of my life, and I’ve included them in each of my stories so far. Until Forever Music, libraries have received only a mention here and there, but in this story, a struggling library becomes the reason for Josie and Ches to keep seeing each other. Their friendship and attraction for each other grow as they work to save it together.
I especially love the Northern Tier Regional Library in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania! We enjoyed summer reading programs, story times, Christmas breakfasts, end-of-the-summer-reading bashes, art festivals, author talks, library galas, and used book sales in this special place. We even bought an old card catalog box at one of those galas.
I have a soft spot for libraries and have volunteered with three different ones since 1992. I’ve peeked behind the scenes to see how they tick and learned about stretched budgets and weeding books. I’ve seen the changes from card catalogs to on-line book searches, from real books to e-book holdings, from being a place of reading and research only to being a real community gathering place.
I love libraries.
What do you love about your library?
Emily S Willard says
I, agree, there is nothing like a good library feel to bring you a sense of peace that when you walk out of the library, with a few books, your life could be changed forever! I love the NT Library as it’s on my street… I could walk there!
Hope Toler Dougherty says
We have such good memories from that place!
