This stay-at-home time has gone on for a long time, hasn’t it? My first canceled event here in North Carolina was supposed to take place on March 12th. I attended a funeral the next week, had my dentist appointment canceled on me, began BSF classes by Zoom, but still had my hair done on the 20th. At that point, restrictions were beginning to tighten. Meeting group size shrunk from 100 to 50 to finally 10 when North Carolinians received stay-at-home orders on the 30th.
The social distancing and missing friends and family, the empty store shelves, the seemingly endless days at home, the loss of paychecks along with the stacking up of unpaid bills…all of it takes a toll, doesn’t it?
A solid practice for believers is to go to God’s Word for direction all the time but especially in strange times like now.
One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Look at this picture of our first rose from our anniversary rose bed and mediate on that verse.
God is good and will see us through whatever is ahead.
