I don’t like confrontation. I don’t like being yelled at. For these reasons and others, I never post about current events on Facebook, and I just scroll through posts that begin with a viewpoint I don’t hold.
I do like interesting conversation. I like healthy debate. I like discourse that makes me think.
Too often today, however, healthy debate has yielded, or maybe more specifically, has been browbeaten into the chaos of screaming feelings across the great divide. Nothing gets settled that way. Nothing grows or develops that way except tempers.
Then I read the following article. The writer seems sane and thoughtful. With quiet confidence, he supports his points with facts instead of screams and emotions. He made me want to share his views, so I’m giving the link here.
I didn’t want to read this article when my son sent it to me. I’m sick of this news story, too, but I read it, and I’m glad I did. I hope more people read it, too.
