On Thanksgiving night, while they’re still full from the day’s feast, Ellen and her family relax in front of one of their favorite movies, It’s a Wonderful Life. I took this tradition straight from my family. We’ve watched that movie on Thanksgiving night for years.
Last year we introduced it to a British guest. We’ll watch it again this year because it begins our Christmas-movie-watching season.

We know most of the lines by heart. We wait for our favorite scenes, and we sigh when it’s over.
