I watched Billy Graham’s funeral two weeks ago. It has to be the coolest thing I’ve ever watched on TV. The music was transcendent. The prayers were powerful. The international speakers symbolized Graham’s work all over the world. The heart-felt messages from his children brought me to tears. I thought to text a friend of mine who loves the Graham family.
As I opened the text app, I saw one from my son in Texas. He watched on Facebook which streamed it live. My friend was also watching on the Fox network. It hit me then that more people than just the locals in North Carolina were watching. People all over the world were watching.
I expected the news to mention the funeral, but I never thought stations would carry the funeral in its entirety. How many times was the name of Jesus Christ invoked? How many times was glory and honor given to God? I still find it hard to believe that for an hour and a half, people celebrated Jesus without interruption.
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
The funeral has been called Billy Graham’s last crusade.
Indeed.
What a life well lived. What a legacy he leaves.
What is my legacy going to be?
