The siblings in Forever Music, Ben, Heath, Sam, and Josie, are loosely based on my own four children. Not exactly their personalities, but definitely their chit chat and smack talk when they get together.
Today I’m sharing pictures of the Dougherty siblings.
This picture is a few years old, but it’s still a good one
Here’s another one from a beach trip a few years ago.
If it looks like they love each other, it’s true. They enjoy each other’s company, but they call each other out whenever they need it. I’m so thankful they’re close, and it’s something I prayed for and tried to nurture during their growing-up years.
With two boys and two girls, it would have been easy to say, “Boys watch a movie on the downstairs TV, and girls watch upstairs.” We made them work together, however, to choose a family movie for Friday night movie/pizza night. They worked out their negotiations and learned compromise that way. We also made sure the whole family attended events–plays, concerts, games–together. We supported each other together.
They’re cool people who love Jesus, love learning, love reading, love music, and love coming home. They’re interested in people and what’s happening around them. They’re interesting because they read and keep up with current events. They think and don’t mind sharing or defending their thoughts.
I can’t believe God loaned these fabulous people to me.
With the boys under the Army’s rules and this Covid-19 quarantine stuff, I’m not sure when we’ll be together in person again, but I’m so thankful for phone calls and FaceTime and text messages and emails. I’m thankful for these four, too. Can you tell?
