Before February slips away, I want to share a few of my loves…story loves, that is.
Rescued Hearts is the book that surprised me because I didn’t plan to write a romantic suspense. Go here if you want to see the video. The idea came to me during a bike ride near my house. I ignored it until the characters started talking, and I decided I should write their story. Some behind-the-scenes information:
I love tuxedo cats, like the one on the cover.
The house on the cover is on my road. I took a picture of it and sent it to the graphic artist.
If I ever become a grandmother, I want to be like Gigi.
Here comes the Forever Series!
Forever Music was my mother’s favorite, I think. I’m not sure why. The reason I like it so much is that it highlights the relationship between siblings. I had so much fun writing the smack talk and teasing banter between Josie and Ben and Heath and Sam. Go here if you want to see the book trailer for this story. Go here if you want to meet the real-life inspirations for the Daniels clan.
See the necklace at the top of picture? It’s supposed to be in the picture of Forever Home. Ugh. I’m just now seeing the mistake. Oh, well. Ha ha. I’ll explain more about it below.
A Hatteras Surprise surprised me, too. I never thought about writing a novella until my publisher asked me to. It’s Ben’s story and the bridge between Josie’s story and Sam’s. An interesting tidbit is that the genesis of the story comes from my childhood. I met a cute boy while my family was on vacation, and every now and then, I’ll think about him (I was ten and he was eleven!) and wonder what he’s up to.
The latest book in the series
This story was frustrating and stubborn. I tried for years to write Sam’s story. I wanted to write his before Ben’s, but the story stayed clearly in the boring lane. My daughters agreed when they read the first eight chapters. Readers will notice Italian elements in the story because we visited Italy while I was writing the rough, rough, rough draft. The red heart necklace is from my childhood and is the inspiration for Merritt’s Italian Millefiori glass necklace. My necklace isn’t Italian glass, but it cheered me on from a prominent place on my desk while I wrote the story.
A secret from the book: I’d love to be a radio host. (Here’s an extra post about my first radio interview.)
If you’ve read these four stories, do you have a favorite? Tell me why in the comments!
