Some people are having a hard time with this stay-at-home order. I’ve seen some on-line complaining. I get it–I mean, as much as an introvert can understand why people don’t like staying at home.
I’m happy as a kitten in a sunspot. I have projects to finish, books to finish, recipes to try. I work from home anyway, so my schedule isn’t really any different. I just have people here with me, so I have to be aware if they’re on the phone not to go banging on the piano when I need a break from my computer.
I want to say to the complaining people, “Hey, we’re not Anne Frank, hiding from Nazis in an upstairs room. We’re going to be all right.” But one of my daughters described those two cents as bordering on harsh.
Yes, this is a strange and unsettling time. No, we’ve never seen anything like it. Yes, it’s a little scary and more so if you own a small business or were already living paycheck to paycheck or you’re a healthcare worker or you have several medical issues. It’s also a sad time to see so many people affected and so many pass away alone, family member kept at hospital or nursing home door.
Bible Verse
I’m reminded, however, of one of my favorite Bible verses, Job 8:21:
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”
That’s a promise, people, from God, the Father, the One who can and will make it come true. He’s the One who makes all His promises to us come true. He’s more reliable than the news that changes with every cycle, than the grocery trucks that have been low on bathroom tissue and bleach lately, than the relief checks that are supposed to appear any day now.
He will fill our mouths with laughter, our lips with shouts of joy, our hearts with hope and love and peace.
He will!

I’m with you, Hope, happy to be at home even while concerned about the many trying to work while also schooling children at home. And I would encourage everyone to watch The Diary of Anne Frank – great reminder that this is nothing like what our Jewish friends endured during WW2.
I appreciate your posts!

Thanks so much for commenting, Maggie! Thank you also for the reminder to watch (or read) The Diary of Anne Frank. Now we have time to catch up on movies we haven’t seen and books we haven’t read!
